Data Concentrator – Gateway
Spider is a comprehensive and reliable Data Concentrator with high added value features. On the other hand, Spider can be seen as a complete functional block to develop on top, a speciﬁc target product. Indeed, to comply with speciﬁc requirements of a particular market and depending on the customer demands, Andrea Informatique can implement the speciﬁc product as part of our partner’s Smart metering oﬀering.
Spider has been designed to perform eﬃcient data collection from multi-energy meters (Electricity, Gas, Water, etc). The collected data are transferred to the HES/MDM system (GALAXY) by means of a dedicated channel. Spider is the backbone of the ANDREA’s AMI system.
ANDREA proposes GALAXY, our performant, compact and cost eﬃcient HES/MDM system. GALAXY (HES/MDM) with Spider (DC/GW) and PEGASUS (single phase and polyphase smart meters) are the master keys of Andrea’s AMI system, a solid and comprehensive set of products and tools for the collection of data in a multi-energy market situation.
Spider, in its basic version, is using a RS485 serial interface and the new and performant G3-PLC Hybrid technology deﬁned by the G3-PLC Alliance. In the PLC side and in addition to the G3-PLC Hybrid, Spider can provide G3PLC (FCC or Cenelec A). Please note that the G3-PLC Hybrid technology is entirely compatible with existent G3-PLC networks. Other communication modules can be plugged to cover speciﬁc meter requirements like LoRaWAN, Wi-SUN, etc. These communication modules swappable. Indeed, Spider has 3 auxiliary slots to plug those additional communication modules.
To communicate with the HES/MDM system, Spider has an Ethernet (TCP/IP) and the LTE/GPRS interfaces. The LTE/GPRS modem is plugged in one of the auxiliary slots.
Spider has several protocol options to connect to the HES/MDM. In its native option, and to connect to GALAXY, Spider is using a dedicated DC/GW interface to optimize and secure the data exchange.
Spider is based on the well accepted and well-proven DLMS COSEM protocol. Presently, most of the current smart meters already installed in ﬁled are based on DLMS COSEM. Nevertheless and to cover other use cases, Spider can use the RS485 interface or, integrate adaptation modules in the auxiliary slots to read non-DLMS smart meters.
The business model of our Spider oﬀer presents excellent options, and our partners can get a product complying entirely with their speciﬁcations. In addition, our partners have all the freedom to distribute it on their own conditions. Andrea Informatique provides services like training, knowledge transfer, maintenance, etc. to complete the oﬀer. In the end, the customer can present the ﬁnal Data Concentrator as their own product.

Monitoring the Mesh Network
Spider has a service and conﬁguration application based on the WEB technology. This application allows an easy-to-use interaction. It is important to point out that Spider has an extensive software which allows comprehensive and graphic monitoring/survey of the mesh network in real time (PLC & Hybrid), this is one of the real added values of Spider in addition to the normal DC/GW functions.

- Spider is using the DLMS Server and Client toolkits. The toolkits are complying with the BOOKS. Hundreds of thousands are installed in ﬁled worldwide and working successfully.
- Spider has been certiﬁed as a product by the G3-PLC Alliance.
