DLMS/COSEM offers a standardized and interoperable communication framework that unifies the requirements of utilities and system providers across the Smart Metering and Smart Grid sectors. It is today the most widely adopted protocol for smart meter communication and has naturally extended to other network elements within modern metering infrastructures.

ANDREA Informatique has developed complete DLMS/COSEM Server and Client Toolkits, designed not only as protocol stacks but as full development platforms that can be directly integrated into target hardware. These Toolkits provide the APIs and interfaces required to integrate communication modules, object models, operating systems, encryption mechanisms, and other essential components needed to build reliable, interoperable, and cost-effective smart devices.

In parallel with our DLMS Toolkits, Andrea also integrates M-Bus and Wireless M-Bus whenever a project requires compatibility with existing field infrastructures—particularly in gas metering, where M-Bus remains a widely deployed communication standard.

While DLMS/COSEM acts as the primary application framework, M-Bus can be embedded as a complementary communication layer, enabling devices to interface with legacy systems, mixed-technology concentrators, or multi-utility deployments.

Through this combined approach, Andrea provides manufacturers and utilities with tools that:

  • unify data models using DLMS/COSEM,

  • integrate M-Bus where needed for gas or multi-energy compatibility,

  • and ensure consistent communication across heterogeneous networks.

Beyond the Toolkits themselves, ANDREA Informatique delivers a complete software and integration service package to support Smart Metering deployments. This includes DLMS object modeling, communication interface development, and extensive functionality testing using PHENIX, our Generic Test Tool.

We accompany clients through every critical phase—from design to validation and field deployment—to guarantee the successful rollout of robust and interoperable smart metering equipment.

Communicate Smarter
